The 3rd and final day of Ba re e ne re opened with inspiring performances from Lipuo Motene, Teboho Moekoa, Ma-Lord Mefane and Juvi. Then finally getting on stage and representing Windhoek was Namibian poet Keamogetsi Joseph Molapong. For our programmes we had two interactive workshops, the first on writing strategies and the second on getting your work published. The panels were moderated by Zachary Rosen and featured powerful stories and advice from Yewande Omotoso, Niq Mhlongo, Mola, Mpho Makara and Ntate Sekhohola. Since the subjects were more practical, the environment on the 3rd day was more intimate with a smaller and more dedicated audience. Wonderful crafts and books were on display throughout.

Then finally, we called the 2014 festival to a close with words from our Director, Lineo Segoete. As the sound went down on the 2014 edition of the festival we created a new ritual by talking a walk to where Liepollo Rantekoa is laid to rest. We cleansed her stone and thanked her for her enduring inspiration.

Until next time, Ba re e ne re…Qoi!
