This year (2019) we held a nation-wide creative-writing competition in partnership with Peace Corps Lesotho.
This contest was open to all primary, secondary, and high school students. The competition was split into three categories: Grade 6 and 7, Forms A-C, and Forms D-E. The first-place composition in each category will receive prizes and public recognition on the national stage in January 2020 (more details will be announced shortly).
Compositions were written in English, Sesotho or both. Judges evaluated entries based upon creativity, flow, clarity and grammar/spelling. However, spelling and grammar were weighted less than concept and execution.
The winners were; L Majorobela from Maryvale Primary in Botha Bothe, who wrote about katse (cat) as the animal she would transform into if she had the chance, B Sepechelane from St Sebastian Secondary School in Mohale’s Hoek, who wrote about Tsoelopele (Development) and L Ntjatje from Makhobalo High School in Leribe, whose composition was on the value of proper roads infrastructure.
